When operating an Arctic Heat Pump in temperatures exceeding the -30C (-22F) operation threshold, our systems are designed to automatically call for a backup heater to activate and take care of home’s heating load until outdoor temperatures once again rise. This backup heater is typically an electric element located in our buffer tank but can also be an external electric or gas boiler.
